Caprice, (of humorous or capricious character) a 35 voice treble choir, is the advanced tour ensemble of the San Diego North Coast Singers.
Directed by Sally Husch Dean and accompanied by Anna Juliar, the group is known for its warm tone and joyous spirit. Admittance is by audition. Caprice performs repertoire in many languages and in three and four part harmony. Members must have basic music literacy skills and will continually study sight singing and musicianship skills. They have performed in festivals and conferences throughout Southern California and have appeared with the La Jolla Symphony & Chorus at UCSD and with the San Diego Symphony at Copley Symphony Hall.
Performance tours include New York City (Cathedral of St. John the Divine and Carnegie Hall), Italy (Palm Sunday Mass at St. Peter’s Basilica in Rome), Austria (Salzburg Dom and Vienna Votivkirche) and Prague (St. Nicholas Church). They have also participated in National Choral Festivals in Denver and West Virginia.

SALLY H. DEAN, DIRECTOR
Sally Husch Dean, founding artistic director of San Diego North Coast Singers has been a leader in the performing arts community of San Diego County for thirty years. Her contributions to the cultural fabric of the area are focused in music education in general and the choral music arena in particular. She founded Sorelle San Diego women’s chamber chorus in 2013.
Ms. Dean holds a Bachelor’s degree in Voice Performance from the University of California, San Diego, and a Master of Music: Choral Conducting from California State University, Los Angeles. She has studied conducting with David Chase in San Diego and Donald Brinegar in Los Angeles. As the founding artistic director of the San Diego North Coast Singers Youth Chorus, Dean has led the prestigious youth ensemble on national and international tours. She is an adjunct faculty member of Palomar College in San Marcos California where she directs both the Palomar College Chamber Singers and the Palomar College Chorale. She is a long-standing member of the soprano section of the La Jolla Symphony Chorus.
